I get this question quite frequently, mostly when people ask me “what do I do for a living”? The term Holistic originates from the Greek word `Holos` which means `whole, firm or correct.
To get a real understanding of holistic therapies is to educate that Holistic therapists view the body as one. The mind, body, and soul. To treat the body than just induvial symptoms.
Holistic therapies are separated from conventional medicine which just treats and targets the issue, disease, or illness. The true aim of Holistic therapies is to help heal and prevent health issues from the induvial and to help them maintain their health and wellness journey in life. this could be by a one-off therapy or a course of therapies over a period of time.
MY EXPERIENCE OF HOLISTIC THERAPIES
Originally, I first started out and trained in Beauty Therapy. I always loved helping people and desired job satisfaction from an early age in life. I was once working in a holistic stress centre locally where I used to live some years ago, just carrying out manicures and pedicures for the clientele. The centre is a charity, so doctors referred patients that were suffering from stress, anxiety, depression, and physical ailments such as back pain/injuries.
I saw people coming back time and time again to be treated for therapies such as Indian head massage, Reflexology, and other holistic therapies such as body massages. Even in the snow and rain, they queued up, just for the doors to be open for them to come in.
I was very impressed by this wellness provided and this made me curious to find out more. So, I decided to enrol on to Body and Spa Course. After I finished the course City and Guilds level 3. I open my own business part-time implementing some beauty therapy treatments but mostly holistic therapies In 2016.
I have now recently gained further higher education by graduating in 2021 in Salon and Spa Management Degree.
As soon as I open my first salon in a business centre, the outcome was a particularly good success. People started to come from all levels of society. To be introduced to the world of holistic therapies. This was a very exciting time for me and for the passers-by, who also were curious about these therapies.
Within my role as a Holistic therapist, I have treated and helped many people in restorative to their mental and physical health. From neck tension, back pain, shoulder discomfort, insomnia, stress, anxiety, and many other conditions. In many cases, medication is given to an induvial by their doctor without in some cases recommendations to a Holistic/Massage therapist.

WHY IS HOLISTIC THERAPY IN DEMAND?
Because many people nowadays are seeking alternative therapies to help and benefit them from their health conditions. For example, Chiropractic is known to be effective in treating lower back pain.
I, as a Holistic Therapist, have treated many people with Neck, Shoulder, and upper/lower back pain. I have seen proven results by not just aiming at the issue itself. but by working and massaging the muscles and tissues affecting the whole surrounding area of the body as a whole can be very effective.
Also, I take into consideration the lifestyle of the Induvial and what do they do for a living that may also be the cause of pain or discomfort to the body. for instance, someone who is at the computer as part of their work, and do not take frequent breaks away from the computer and computer chair and not sitting correctly, can result in lower back pain and neck discomfort. This is the main problem I see with clients on a regular basis.
This type of case can lead to postural faults, which can lead a person to seek more specialist help, such as an Osteopath or Chiropractor. Which can be expensive.
There are many others that are called Holistic therapies. I would advise the reader to do their own research on them so see if they might also benefit from.
